Thomas' Day at the Docks is the pilot episode of Thomas the Wooden Tank Engine and Friends: Wooden Railway Stories. It first aired on Youtube on the 25th August 2010.
Thomas is a cheeky, little blue tank engine, with the number 1 painted on both sides of his boiler. He has his own branchline, and two coaches named Annie and Clarabel, which he was rewarded with after rescuing James from an accident.
One day, Thomas returned to his home, Tidmouth Sheds. He wanted a rest after a long day of taking passengers, but Sir Topham Hatt (The Fat Controller) tells Thomas that he has an important job for him. Thomas is to go to Brendam Docks and help Salty, the Dockyard Diesel, shunt trucks. Thomas agrees and The Fat Controller leaves. Gordon and James then ask Thomas how shunting trucks could be considered an important job. Edward and Percy state that any job is important, and with the engines arguing, Thomas sets off for the docks.
Thomas soon arrives at the docks, but questions The Fat Controller's statement of there being a lot of trucks to be shunted. Salty assures Thomas that lots of trucks will be arriving at the docks soon. Thomas then looks at some fish trucks beside him. The dockyard manager then tells Thomas to shunt all of the trucks at the docks to form Murdoch's goods train.
Before long, Arthur arrives with two flatbeds, Stepney brings two cattle trucks and Duck brings four more trucks. Now Thomas understands why his help was needed. Soon Thomas begins shunting all of the trucks into a train for Murdoch, while Salty shunts the fish vans, which were for Henry's Flying Kipper.
Once Thomas and Salty finish, Henry and Murdoch arrive to collect their trains. Henry thanks the engines, and Murdoch says that their work will show Gordon and James how important working at the docks can be. Thomas had forgotton all about what Gordon and James had said about him earlier that day, and soon he sets off for home.
Back in Tidmouth Sheds, The Fat Controller comes to see Thomas, and praises him for his hard work. Gordon and James now see how important working at the docks can be, and all of the engines agree that helping their friends is the most important thing of all.
