Gordon is complaining to the other engines about Murdoch pushing him up Gordon's Hill. Henry claims it to be Gordon's fault for making rude remarks about Murdoch, but Gordon thinks it's both Murdoch and Salty's fault, for making a plan to divert Gordon to Gordon's Hill. Emily soon arrives and asks whats going on, and Henry tells her that they're making fun of Gordon for complaining about Murdoch. Emily then wants join in. Percy then tells Gordon not to look to his left. Gordon is confused, but soon sees Murdoch puffing past with a goods train, and Gordon continues complaining, and claims that Murdoch is jealous of him because he doesn't take passengers. Percy makes one final joke, then Gordon puffs away. Henry asks if Gordon is going to move off the turntable and fall into a ditch, reffering to one of Gordon's accidents. Emily calls the accident hilarious, but Gordon doesn't hink it was so funny, and he puffs away.
At the yard, Spencer is trying to rest, when Gordon arrives. Spencer asks if he is still complaining about Murdoch, and Gordon becomes cross of everybody reminding him of the incident, and he puffs away once more. Gordon thinks the express will take his mind off Murdoch, but Bertie asks how doing a job that he had to have help with would take his mind off the engine who helped him. Gordon doesn't know how to answer, so he just puffs away to Brendam Docks.
At the Docks, Gordon finds Salty shunting trucks of fish, and asks if Salty is happy. Salty says he is because he is at the docks, but that's not what Gordon meant. Gordon tells Salty that it wasn't fair or nice to play a trick on him. Just then, Arthur arrives, and confronts Gordon, stating that the latter was being mean to Murdoch, and he needed to be taught a lesson. Gordon is even crosser, and steams away with the express.
On the mainline, leaves had blown onto the track. Murdoch couldn't go any further, so had decided to rest in the Warehouse. Soon, Gordon approaches the section of track that the leaves had blown onto. He had to stop at a sign on the tracks, where he sees Murdoch, and asks what he is doing. Murdoch tells Gordon he is waiting for the tracks to be cleared of the leaves, but Gordon doesn't believe Murdoch, and knocks the sign out of the way! As Gordon steams away, he runs over the leaves, and they lift his wheels of the track and he derails. Murdoch hurries over to Gordon, just Thomas arrives. He asks Gordon what happened, but then hurries off to tell the other engines.
Murdoch pulls Gordon back onto the line. Gordon returns to Tidmouth Sheds, and Murdoch continues the express run. Later that night, Gordon is called to the works, where The Fat Controller is waiting, who tells Gordon he is to stay in the sheds until he founds out why Gordon has such a grudge against Murdoch. Spencer and Bertie come and go, and laugh at Gordon. Murdoch then arrives, and The Fat Controller tells Gordon to apologize to him. Gordon does so, and tells Murdoch what a responsible, reliable and really useful he is. Murdoch is just glad that Gordon is safe, and the two big engines fall asleep.
